Trimming of the cover is necessary to get a tight fit. Repeat this at all ends of the gutter. Step 2: Attachclip on each end of the cover with an upward rotating motion at a position 4" to 6" from the end. Step 3: Slide back edge of cover under the first row of shingles. Once in place screw (provided) clip (provided) to top of gutter so there is about a 1/8 inch (0.3 cm) to 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) gap between the cover and the gutter. Repeat this process on remaining pieces interlocking cover together.

ENDS OF GUTTER

cover endAt the end of the gutter it is important to bend cover down into the gutter on the inside of the end cap, leaving no openings. This will keep birds and debris from getting into the gutter. Trimming the cover will be necessary.

OUTSIDE CORNERS

Outside CornersDetermine the angle of the corner and cut cover to match, allowing 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) overlap of the covers, and screw together.

INSIDE CORNERS AND ROOF VALLEYS

Inside corners and all valleys need a deflector to insure nInside Corners Deflectorso water run off. The deflector (see Inside Corner diagram below) is the best way of installing an inside corner. Determine the angle of the corner and cut cover sections to match allowing 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) overlap of the cover. Cut the deflector out of a piece of cover, bend into an L, trim and bend to fit angle of the corner. Seal between deflector and cover and screw in place. Inside Corners ScreenNote: Place clips so deflector extends past clips (see Inside Corner diagram below) Hint: Screen may be used in place of deflector for inside corners; however, it is recommended to use the deflector to insure proper water flow.

VERY STEEP OR FLAT ROOFS

Depending on the gutter installation the cover may need to be bent up or down where the cover meets the roof for a better fit and to allow the shingles to lay flat. The pitch of the roof will not affect the ability of how Hallett Gutter Cover® will work.
