Gutter Guards: Better Be Safe Than Sorry

You might say that gutter covers are not necessary. It's a waste of money when you can just clean the gutters yourself. Or if you're not able, then you can always hire a company who can do the job for you. But before you finally decide against gutter covers, you may want to consider these possible scenarios if you don't have them.

  1. Gutters need regular cleaning from debris more than twice a year; more often during fall season. So you went ahead and grabbed a ladder, hand shovel, working gloves, and a bucket. It was never an easy job but you still chose to do it yourself until your ladder slipped and you fell 10 feet from the ground. It has caused you money and a broken pelvis. You should've known that there is a great number of ladder accidents from roof repair and cleaning.
  2. You decided to hire a company to clean the gutters for you. Finding a company that is reliable and dependable may not be easy but you still managed to hire one. They advertised an attractive $75 fee but you ended up paying them $350 for parts replacement that you probably didn't need.
  3. You’re felt like your gutters are going to give up with all the dried leaves and bird’s nest and god-knows-what-else dumped on them. So you hired a gutter cleaning company right away. You didn’t even check if the contractor is insured. He fell down from the ladder, broke his leg, and you went through the nightmare with your insurance company paying for the guy’s hospital bills.

These are just examples of what might happen if you don't have a gutter cover. You can choose to cross your fingers and pray that these unfortunate events won't happen to you or you can prevent them from happening and install gutter protection. If you have gutter guards, you’re not required to climb up a ladder to clean your gutters anymore. Gutter covers can easily be maintained from the ground with a telescopic pole and brush. The task is too easy that you won’t need to hire a gutter cleaning company. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
