Sectional

Commonly made from steel, vinyl or aluminum, they usually can be bought pre-painted and ranges from 10-20 ft. Homeowners can install it without hassle, but can also be done by professionals too. They can be bought piece by piece, and can be used as an add-on to an existing installation. They come with other parts such as corner pieces, drop outlets and caps. However, due to the “piece by piece” set up of sectional gutters, leaks are most likely to happen.

Seamless

A popular variety mostly preferred by installers and homeowners. Installers take certain measurements and makes the gutters on the spot. This can be done by homeowners too, but the installers have a device that makes the gutter system with the precise length. The leaks will still come about, but more on the corners and downspouts so it's easier to maintain. It's slightly more expensive compared to the sectional types, but saves the owner more in the long run.

Either choice will do well, it's dependent on the responsibility of the homeowner to keep the gutter system in good condition. Gutters are usually neglected in terms of maintenance and it's best to prevent that from happening.
