How to Buy Gutter Guards Without Getting Ripped Off
Share
For home purchases, quality is often the overall decider. There have been a lot of stories on forums, discussion boards and blog sites about consumers getting “ripped off” by several products -- this includes gutter guards and other products. Complaints have been coming here and there, saying that they’ve spent hundreds of dollars to install a new type of gutter guard but instead of keeping the debris out -- it seemed to make matters worse. Certain designs, though cheaper, seem to also pose more of a problem than a solution. This is a little tricky as some expensive and cheaper brands would sometimes bring a negative result? How do you prevent it?
Know your enemies
Not human enemies, but the “house” culprits. That includes, trees, insects and the most common debris that your surroundings bring to your roof. This will give you a better idea on what type of gutter guard you’ll be looking for. There are certain types of gutter guards against common debris or you can opt for a practical choice -- a design that’s versatile to handle the common gutter debris.
Know the company
If you want immediate feedback on a certain product, you can ask a neighbor especially if he/she has the same product as the one you wanted. There’s no better source of information than the one that’s already using it. Since most of the businesses now can be found online, don’t hesitate to go to the Internet and do some research about the company that’s selling the gutter guards that you want. Know if they have immediate support, contact numbers and email. Good resources of feedback are forums and discussion boards. Don’t forget to check some social networking sites too as most probably there will also be a company page on those sites.
Know your budget/preference
Do you prefer DIY or having someone to install the gutter guards for you? It does matter. If DIY is your thing, you might save a few dollars of the regular price. If you don’t mind paying then you can have a professional do it for you. Check the prices for installation as well, be cautious against charges that are too high and the service that they will do aside from gutter guard installation.
People won’t get ripped off if they don’t let themselves get ripped off! Just be vigilant and do your research – you’ll get your money’s worth and become a smarter consumer.
